"In my role as Head of Project Execution, one of my key challenges was fast track talent identification development. Tinja developed the Effective Leadership Communication Skills (ELCS) training program that became a rite of passage for project professionals in my department. ELCS was a 3-day residential program that allowed candidates to develop their negotiation and persuasion skills and provided a structured framework for building a solid business case.
On the final day, candidates had to present real high gain business cases to a senior management team who were instructed to work the candidates hard. The short term results in terms of newly identified business cases and highly motivated individuals was excellent. The long term results, which are still bearing fruit today, were the changes in behaviours, confidence, belief and approach of individuals who went through the process.
Tinja's role as coach was essential to this, and Tinja and I spent a lot of time before each session talking about improvement areas for individuals plus the overall strategy and expectations from the business. Tinja was then able to take this information and personalise the experience for every individual, thus making it a highly positive experience for the individual and for the business, regardless of initial ability.
By myself and my team watching the transformation of the individuals, and seeing the performance of the stand-out candidates, we were able to enhance the already successful talent development programme."
